Thanks to the tremendous generosity of many people in our parishes, the 2021 Catholic Foundation Missionary Cooperation Plan Appeal (MCP) raised a record $425,260.65 in support of missionary groups. $11,191,07 was distributed to each of the missionary groups that participated in our 2021 Appeal. This is the largest-ever distribution provided through our MCP.
Sr. Angela Dassinor is a sister of the Handmaids of the Divine Redeemer. She appealed on behalf of their Kressner Handmaids Children’s Home in Ghana, West Africa. Her mission was one ofthe 38 missionary groups invited by Bishop David Ricken to participate in our 2021 MCP. “Your Foundation is a great backbone to our mission,” shared Sr. Angela, speaking about the financial support received from the Catholic Foundation’s World Mission Services. She currently serves at Father Carr’s Place 2B in Oshkosh.
“Our parishes welcome our missionaries with open arms each year and our generous parishioners open their hearts, giving both prayer and financial gifts to MCP,” said World Mission Services Director Cindy St. Aubin. “All monies raised go directly to our missionaries.”
The Catholic Foundation World Missions office promotes MCP yearly. Thanks to Bishop Ricken, all 156 parishes in our Diocese host a MCP missionary group. Our World Missions office receives more than 300 applications for MCP each year from missionary groups based in Africa, India, Philippines, Guatemala, Vietnam, Haiti and locations around the world.
As part of our 2022 MCP, missionaries will make a personal appeal for prayers and financial support between May 15 and September 15. They will share the challenges they are facing and help us better understand the global needs of our Church. The prayers and financial support you are able to give go a long way toward providing much-needed assistance to their missions.
Under the direction of the Catholic Foundation, World Mission Services helps serve the global needs of our Church and people across the world by promoting the missionary spirit of Christ’s Gospel. The people of the Diocese of Green Bay have been incredibly generous, giving nearly $2 million in financial support to World Mission Services in 2021. You make an amazing difference in the lives of so many.
“World Missions is a joy, and it warms my heart to know the impact and difference that each and every one of us can make globally through prayer, action and financial gifts,” shared Cindy St. Aubin. “This is what we as Catholics are called to do.”
Please support the 2022 MCP by giving to the collection at your parish. For more information about MCP, contact the World Missions office at 920-272-8192 or email [email protected].
