Meet Delia

Meet Delia: one of the religious educators impacted by your gift to the Bishop’s Appeal.

At St. Philip the Apostle Parish in Green Bay, 155 children are discovering Jesus through the parish religious education program thanks to the help of Delia Gómez, the Baptism & Faith Formation Coordinator at the Parish.

For the last two years, Delia has walked with so many children on their faith journey as they begin lifelong friendships with Jesus, including 40 children in the program who are preparing for Confirmation.

“It is truly a great blessing to be able to walk with these young people who are preparing to receive Confirmation,” shared Delia. “The presence of God is the most important thing in my life. I try to be a Christ-centered person where Christ is present in every aspect of my life, my soul, and the marrow of my bones. I want to pass this message along to the children in our parish.”

It is through her role that Delia sees an abundance of hope not only in her parish, but also in the Diocese of Green Bay. She attributes the hope in her life to the joyful children she teaches and Kately Javier from the Office of Evangelizing Catechesis.

Your gift to the Bishop’s Appeal provides training, support, and resources from the Diocesan Office of Evangelizing Catechesis for religious educators like Delia. This training equipped her to help more children discover Jesus and find hope in Him.

Thanks to Kately, hundreds of educators receive the resources and support they need to bring hope to young people in parishes throughout northeastern Wisconsin.

“Through your support of the Bishop’s Appeal, we are able to strengthen Religious Education programs in all of our parishes to provide our children and youth with that solid foundation in faith. It is a blessing and an inspiration to work with leaders like Delia, who work to help these children live out that relationship with Christ as their friend for life,” said Kately.

Delia’s support also included a training and development day at Notre Dame Academy this past fall. This development day included Mass, presentations, breakout sessions, fellowship, and more to equip educators as they share Jesus with the youth in our parishes.

The relationship with the Office of Evangelizing Catechesis has been a blessing for Delia as she helps young people discover Jesus.

“Kately, it has really been a great blessing to have you here in our Diocese because we know that you have already worked hard to bring us more training and more tools so that we can have those tools ourselves and be able to extend them to our students or our little ones who want to have that great encounter with our Lord,” Delia explained thankfully.

Because of your support of the Bishop’s Appeal, more than 13,000 children across the 16 counties of northeastern Wisconsin are becoming energized and excited about their faith. Religious educators like Delia can only do this essential work thanks to your incredible generosity.

“I believe that the Diocese has done everything possible to give us the support we need as a parish, and it is very important that we as parishioners respond with great generosity. Now is the time for us to support the Bishop’s Appeal. If we respond generously, the Diocese will be able to provide us with great blessings like Kately. Thank you for your gift to the Appeal. Thank you for helping our young people meet Jesus!” said Delia.
