Make A Will Month is August, and many people will reflect on how they can share their gifts to serve the Church. One place we can look for guidance is from one of Jesus’ parables. In the Parable of the Talents, Jesus shares the story of three servants tasked with managing their master’s talents. One of the servants buries the talents away, yielding nothing and disappointing the master. However, the other two double their talents and please their master, multiplying their gifts and sharing those gifts with others.
As Catholics, we are called to follow the example of the two servants who doubled their talents. How can we take the gifts God gives us and share them with our brothers and sisters? When we share our gifts, we follow God’s call and bring Jesus to more people. Your gifts make a tremendous impact on the future of our Church. As you consider what legacy you will leave, we encourage you to pray and reflect during Make A Will Month on how you will share the gifts God has generously given to you. The Catholic Foundation is here to help.
The Catholic Foundation partners with families and individuals as they leave a legacy. A legacy can be used to support a parish, Catholic school, the Bishop’s Appeal Endowment, and many other Catholic ministries and Catholic organizations. Through these legacies, families uplift the work of parishes and the Diocese to help more people encounter Jesus and support the Church for years to come.
