“New Year, new you.” You’ve probably heard this saying time and time again, and with it comes people trying all sorts of new experiences to transform themselves. Some may try a new fitness routine while others may spend less time on social media. A similar result occurs, and people often quit their resolution. The “new you” fades away, and you’re left wondering how and if you can still better yourself this New Year.
Here’s the good news: there is still time to make a positive change not only for this year, but also for years to come. You create a “new you” while helping others, and this occurs through the way we support charities, including the Church. Creating a plan for giving can transform the lives of families across northeastern Wisconsin.
You experience benefits by giving as well. According to the Cleveland Clinic, giving is good for your health. Establishing a planned gift creates a legacy while bettering your physical, mental, and financial health. You can receive benefits, including a tax reduction or elimination, all while sharing the love of Christ for generations to come.
The most common forms of planned giving are leaving a bequest or establishing an endowment. Often, we see families include the Catholic Foundation in their estate plans to benefit their parish, Catholic school, or other non-profit that is near and dear to their heart. Some people establish an endowment and fund it through their will or their IRA. These gifts can help create your legacy in the new year.
Start the New Year with a new you, and please prayerfully consider a planned gift. Leave a legacy that will transform the lives of those around you for years to come.
